Kong Joo Bin opens her heart about her ‘BF’ and the magic she experienced in Baguio

Talk 3

Hello, my name is JB.

Before I start, I wanna say thank you for giving me this opportunity. It can be a little weird, but I wanna start by recalling one of my experiences.

It’s about my BF. We’ve been together for over 10 years. In the beginning, it’s great to know about him. But over 10 years, I felt like there seemed to be a wall between us. To solve this problem, I tried a lot (seeking advice from friends, reading related articles, meditating, even crying) but actually, it was no use. So, our relationship ended up with a failure. Guess what, guys? Yes, this is not my love story. It’s a story between English and me. For many years, English was like an estranged bf. Our relationship was twisted and I couldn’t possibly find a solution.

Then one day, a question hit me. The question was “Why don’t you explore yourself?” One teacher’s advice was pointing at my ‘fear’ against speaking. I felt bad but after getting hold of myself, I made up my mind to stay here in the dining area and I started talking with other students. I think it was a new start. And now, it became one of my strategies to study English. So I wanna say, students, keep talking. Even though you cannot see your improvement on the spot, even though this crazy English disappoints you, keep talking, and you could see yourselves turning into the person who enjoys conversation.

I wanna share two more ideas with you. First, be a suspicious person “about the way you study”. As you know, there are many ways to study English. So we should select some ways and try them. But more important thing is questioning and doubting about your choices. If you don’t see your growth, it’s time to try another way until you find your own strategy.

Lastly, don’t be too much suspicious about your progress. Believe time. Time will work. Let’s try to believe this saying. Our perseverance will pay off in no time. I hope all of you could experience Baguio magic with English.

Thank you for listening. Especially thank you for all the teachers who really wish to see our progress more than ourselves.
