A&J Academy brought colors to their learning environment

“Appropriate color design is important in protecting eyesight, in creating surroundings that are conducive to studying, and in promoting physical and mental health.” International Association of Color Consultants – North America (IACC-NA).

Last January, A&J started minimal renovations on their school facilities: their lounge area, kubo area and gym area by repainting their walls. From plain white, the walls of the academy was brought back to life by the vibrant colors green and orange.

The gym area was repainted with the color green: which represents relaxation. The color painted to the area was appropriate for students to maintain their cool while working out. The academy lobby, which also serves as the dining area for the students, was repainted with the color orange, which invites friendliness among the students because of its brightness. The kubo area was repainted with the color orange as well, which is also interpreted as a critical-thinking and memory stimulant. Students often like to study in the kubo area because of its relaxing nature, and the color orange also helps in maintaining their focus while studying in the area.

Repainting of the walls in the academy are just part of the school’s on-going facility improvement. A&J started with repainting because they know that color affects the performance, emotions and the behavior of students within their physical learning environment.
